Yeah, the thai fighter is soooo coool. He practically was playing with his opponent thru out. The "match" was too easy for Naruepol. Trevor was fighting but Naruepol was so relaxed and was a gentleman thruout and so was his coach, Trevor could have been easily knocked out in IMHO but Naruepol let Trevor loose the match "honorably". Awesome production....I love everything about it except the sub-titles - chinese subtitles was over the english.
Agree about the subtitles. It was an amazing fight, I'm glad they went easy on the scissors and didn't cut the fights like they did the boxing contender fights. Was holding my breadth for Zach when they were choosing team members!
I noticed that Thais tend to go easy and "give face" to their opponents when they know they outclass them, seen Buakaw do this as well. Wondering if this is common etiquette in Thailand? Nareupol was a gentleman, heard the trainer telling him not to play around...
Excited to see the upcoming episodes!

During the last 2 rounds his trainer told Narupol to KO Trevor and kept telling him "He is not as good as you, so KO him"... What an ass... hmm... actually I felt JWP was such a good leader, the first thing he did was he chose Yodsanklai, next he continues to motivates his teammates even after losing the match. Plus, he is such a good fighter... ALL THE WAY JWP!
There was a part on the contender website that shows Narupol being left out for not being able to understanding english, felt kinda sad for him too. All the guys were like laughing and chit chatting except Yodsanklai and Narupol. Yodsanklai doesn't seems to be bothered that much and continue eating his meal but Narupol was like look kind of sad. Can't blame him...
Felt kinda sad for Trevor too... He just got married and was expecting to last a least a couple more episode but was instead send home on the first fight. On The Contender website was a poll on whether there should be a rematch for Trevor and Narupol but I seriously I don't see a point anymore.

rematch? it will be taking every single bit of honour off trevor.. the match was fair and square, so whats the rematch for?
(and also i dun think trevor can win narupol even with 10 rematches "no offenses")
its kinda sad for trevor to be out so fast.. but in the ring theres no mercy.. the weakest gets out first..
silly poll...
the first fight was posted on http://contenderasiafans.com
i wish they wouldn't edit the fights and play the full length one.
I was there in Trevors corner and that was pretty much the full fight and thy hadn't cut out much except prolly the standing around boring bits...
They have 45 mins to make a show,if they don't edit out the standing around in the fights and show even the boring bits then its gonna be 20mins of a fight and 25mins of an episode.
They gotta fit the challenges and fit the story behind the characters thats what makes a SHOW.
It's a REALITY TV SHOW?!?...if you wanna watch a fight...then watch A FIGHT.

haha.. ya true.. they have time constraints also.. but just dun cut out the good parts can alraedy

Well. On the clock is clear, on TV every round was about 2 mins and in reality it was 5.
any idea where to get the full episode?
Haha... I wouldn't mind if they extend the show and cut away all the adverstiment in between haha... Its like watching a movie but every 15 minutes there are adverstiment and sort.
I said it was "pretty much the full fight".....not it WAS the full fight.
Let me ask you,...you sparr/pad work for 3 mins I don't see you going for a full 3 mins non stop punching kicking elbowing kneeing?.....So can't a fight have boring bits where they stand around and need to edit out?? Time constraints for the show.
Fighters all wanna watch the show for the FIGHTS..I admint that too but the general public that will be more than this whole forum,k1 fans, contenderasiafans and some other fighting forums will watch it for the SHOW.
Grake's prolly had the best and sensible comments on the show so far......They bloody can do with less advertisements!!
Towards the end of the fight, Naruepol's trainer told him not to use his elbows on Trevor since its obvious that Trevor's got nothing on him. So why injure him badly? Again, because the Chinese subtitles covered the English subtitles on the screen, those remarks couldn't be read clearly. So no Grake, I don't think Naruepol's trainer was as ass at all. On the contrary, he earned my respect for being (and teaching Naruepol to be) a gentleman in the sport. Always take the high road.
And I thought what happened during the challenge was terrible, Soren landing on Zach's shoulder. Ouch!
any idea where to get the full episode?
i chanced upon the full episode somewhere on the net and downloaded it. Just uploaded it on my blog. I'm not sure if they're gonna make me take it down but download it just in case!

Yo Zach does your shoulder still hurts?

erm.. i think u din see the whole fight properly my fren,
thru out the fight narupol's coach was telling him (get serious, K-O him, dun play around, he has nothing against u so just K-O him.)
and the reason why he tell narupol not to elbow him, its cause trevor has got deadly punches.. thats why.. (he also told him to use his legs more and kick him down)
and u say he is a nice guy? erm..?

In a real fight, you can always expect the trainer in your own corner to shout comments/remarks such as "knee!" "kick harder!" or "K-O him!" That is nothing out of the ordinary. What is unusual, however, is having the trainer from your own corner asking you not to elbow your opponent and to "feel sorry for him" - which was what Naruepol's trainer did (towards the end of the fight). In the beginning, he did tell Naruepol to "get serious" and to "take him down" because it was obvious Naruepol was fooling around. He took some punches from Trevor in the first round which was unnecessary (it causes him to lose points). But perhaps Naruepol did that to "sound out" Trevor's punches.
I don't agree with the reason you proposed i.e. Trevor has got deadly punches therefore Naruepol shouldn't elbow him. One doesn't have anything to do with the other. If Naruepol DID elbow Trevor, he would probably have suffered a cut in his face or got K-O. Deadly punches or no deadly punches, towards the end of the fight (4th and 5th round), Naruepol clearly had the upper hand and Trevor barely even touched him. And it was then that Naruepol's trainer told him not to elbow Trevor.
In any case, I blame the poorly arranged subtitles. Unless viewers understand Thai or read Chinese, I think most people wouldn't get what the Thai trainer was actually saying.

OMG I worked on that banner for the CAFans site for like 3 hours and it got swooshed away with a click of a mouse... All that pixel work, colours trying, line bending, fonts matching... grrrrr.... but what the hell, it's Christmas, or NewYear, or whatever. use it well, you're welcome!

I agree with nak muay. what I watched on AXN is what I perceived it to be. To me, it clearly showed that Naruepol was already having the upper hand and therefore an elbow/ KO was really unnecessary. All those "light" kicks and punches meted out to Trevor was alr doing enough "damage" and wearing him down.

OMG SO MANY SPOILERS HERE
I AM STILL DOWNLOADING THE FIRST EPISODE VIA TORRENT (mininova.com) but I think it says that the torrent was submitted by contenderasiafan website people...
GAH !
huh?
Sorry, I wasn't very coherent... LOL
I just downloaded episode 1 (I was cursing in the earlier post because this thread has many spoilers!)
EDIT: Sorry, I have to take down your comment. Yeas, there are spoilers, but for the episodes already broadcasted. G.
Doesnt anyone have comments or opinions on the 2nd episode? I would to hear some
Drama is ok I think... it's only the begining. Since I saw the fight live and knew a bit of their background, I kinda expected that outcome, but no so quick I may add. Sean was really fast with his low kicks.
Really impressed by Sean's ability to kick the back leg on the inside. I find that really hard to pull off. Anyone has any tips you'd like to share on that technique, pls PM me!

Yesterday's show full of drama, very exciting!
John Wayne Parr is an outstanding human being and leader! When there's a dirty job to be done, he volunteered himself instead of sending someone else to take the risk of fighting Rafik. And he didn't force anyone to accept his decision, but showed respect and asked for and listened to the views and opinions of his teamates. He's won a fan in me.
His team seems very tight, because of his leadership. No politicking and back-stabbing.
Yod is really hilarious, what a character! Next week, Yod vs. Bruce?
BTW, caught glimpses of Alvin Seet and Bia holding bags for the contenders during the training session (just before Rafik went crazy). Awesome!

I agree! I simply loved the drama that went on...I sat tight in my seat...but ar was a bit disappointed with JWP performance. Thats not the best I have seen in him. Yeah and though rafik had a foul temper and loud mouth , I was surprised he kept up with JWP thruout. In my opinion, Rafik put up a good fight which I wasn't expecting. And when the refree wanted to announced the results, my heart was in my mouth...I couldnt say for sure. Although it was somewhat of a relief....if rafik had won, I wouldn't have been surprised.
Rafik put up a pretty good fight... I dunno but to me it seems like the fight was a draw. But it is a show and someone has to go home. JWP got a pretty nasty cut on his nose too.
i think it will be interesting if we have a contender like tourney. break our fighters into teams and get them to pick the their fighters.
hard to conceptualize but i think an interesting proposal
Today it's the fifth episode, hope it's gonna be a good one!

Did you guys see Zach's fight with Zidov? Omg!!! Did you see that shoulder pop out 3 times, it was awful!! watching that shoulder drop
and he actually put back that dislocated shoulder....Oooouuucchh!!!! Watching him do that is soooooo painful.
and 3 times in a row!!!
Anyway, that was an awesome 1st round!

Yeah, he was good indeed. We were so sure he's gonna win that fight...
Zidov shows alot of heart
.Even he knew he's the smallest inside the contender... Well Zach is just unlucky...
ya zach performed very well. kudos to him! im sure he'll be back in shape in no time. hope to see more of zach on tv. all the best!

Episode 1 just ended.. well, an hour ago
Image quality is not the best you saw on AXN
Sound is ... so-so.... plus the chinese subtitles are over the English ones, so one can't read the first line, but the fighters make up for it!!!! Great guys, great guys!!!!
