Few questions about glove, technique and fitness
Hi guys, I'm newbie here. I got a few questions if u guys don't mind to help me..
1. Which brand is for you Fairtex, Twins or Boon? and why? (your own opinion)
2. I am having a problem with roundhouse kick as I can't kick that high, any suggestion how to solve this? Stretching or more training?
3. Last question, i had an injury a few years back when I played soccer for my school it was pretty bad. Although there's no problem now, my flexibility is drastically worsen for example I can't sit seiza. I'm concerned that if I go for competition I will injure my left knee again. I went to doctor before and he said I got rheumatoid arthritis. Is there anyone with the same experience? Now i concentrate on training my thigh during gym as it kinda helps.
Thx a lot! haha..
1- any brand will do. Its the wearer that matters, not the brand.
2- you answered your own question
3- if you choose to be a fighter you will risk bodily damage. No way around it. Whats the worst that can happen? You have a few more knee surgeries. Can you live with that?
Bro, don't think about competition 1st.. you're just starting out.. don't be too kan jiong, faster go competition later injured how ? cannot train anymore..
For flexibility, just stretch more... 4-5 times a week to gain flexibility..
Hi,
1. Typical brands are Boon and Twins which offer a value for money options. But no one knows how best the gloves fit but yourself. No matter what brand, look out for its stiches, padding, sweat absorption and probably the cuff protection.
2. Focus on getting the roundhouse right first i.e arms placement, roation of the hips and the pivot on the (ball of) other leg. Once all these body mechnics been in place, then you can develop further into "height" training.
Many training vids on youtube, you can consider this as reference
Note the various options for different level of difficulty/stretch
3. In a fight (or even training/sparring), do expect to get hit (if not smash
)
in any where possible. Best to seek a doctor clearance and be mentally prepared for the knocks.
Am also concerned on the rheumatoid arthritis condition too, so far only joints are affected? And r u on any medications such as DMARDs or NSAIDs etc?
And check out 5:29 of this vid
Thx all!
1. Well basically I'm gonna try with boon, the price is affordable and people said it has a better wrist protection.
2. Thx a lot for zesty kick! I was doing basic stretching, will train with ur video soon..
3. I got checked to the doctor but he never gave me any meds. But ya it's only the joint or around the joint where it appears swollen. It was caused mostly by futsal games though, so I cut down those games and train my thigh and calf more this year. I guess i'll go check my knee again next month hahaha.
try the gloves on, even the same brand have differences in manufacturing...quality wise twins/raja/boon/king etc all good i have used all of them , at the moment Raja gloves (previous design) are my favourites...they newer ones dont fit my hand as well....Windy and King are slightly wider i think (just my opinion) i wouldnt worry too much though....

Gloves - Boon.
