Glove fitting
Hi, can anyone describe how Muay Thai gloves should fit? Just got into MT and decided to get my own so I don't have to scrub my hands so many times after training... the smell can really linger
Tried Twins, Fairtex, Boon and King Air gloves and here are my impressions:
Twins 12oz- like the feel and the grip bar. Hand compartment fits well with slight wriggle room, but my middle fingertip jams against and tents the glove leather when I clench my fist. Less so when I curl my fingers more, but still feels some pressure.
Fairtex 12oz - No grip bar. Hand compartment a little loose, ie fingers can wriggle quite a bit, but fingertips not jammed against leather.
Boon 12oz? - Finger compartment just felt too tight.
King Air - felt good, but concerned about durability of the fabric patch in the palm as opposed to the leather of all the rest.
I have smallish hands with thin fingers and pencil wrists and arm, so would like a slightly heavier pair of gloves for training. Also bruised my knuckles after my 2nd training session and I rely on my hands to work, so heavier padding is probably good. I'd appreciate any advice on which of the above gloves to get. Actually I bought the Twins, but only realised the fingertip issue at home... may need to get them exchanged.
TIA.
No I don't think they are supposed to do that. I don't like that feeling and I won't buy it if it happens. I know Twins is a big MT brand, but I've never liked their stuff. I don't think they're well-designed, but that's just my personal opinion.
I've never tried King Air but I've tried the first 3 and Boon fits me best, and is my favourite. I feel Fairtex is really overpriced and the gloves I had before really couldn't match the Boon in terms of quality.
Get whichever fits you best. I don't think the palm gets much contact so I won't worry too much about it, unless it tears away from the rest of the glove.
Lastly, yes I'd try to exchange them if I can.
Politicians and diapers must be changed often and usually for the same reason.
I use fairtex and i really love my gloves =D, Twins is great too.
It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe
Hi,
I would like to recommend Hayabusa 10oz. I too have a small wrist (hence get sprain wrist from heavy bag work). The Hayabusa gloves come with additional wrist support.
Price at $125. Can get from Haji Lane. I was there yesterday and they had stock.
i use twins and they're great for me, so i think u really have to trust urself on this one. keep in mind the leather will adapt and feel more comfortable after u use them for a while..
Thanks to everyone for responding. I went down to Haji Lane and switched to a Fairtex 12oz in the end. The Fairtex had padding which extended round the fingertips and had a longer finger compartment, so I don't stretch the end of the glove. The width of the finger compartment was a little wide and there was plenty of room to wriggle sideways, but I guess I'll have to live with that.
Can't wait to hit some bags with the new gloves.
Happy CNY everyone
Happy New Year! Glad you had it sorted out. Go slow and easy with the bag, especially with hooks. It's easy to injure your wrist.

kick me u got my PM?

Oops just realised I didn't post my question.... should I exchange my Twins gloves? Are my fingertips supposed to contact the end of the glove?
Thanks
