Artem Levin vs Yodsanklai Fairtex at SportAccord World Combat Games in China
Yodthanong Phorat, who is better known as Yodsaenklai Fairtex, was com prehensively defeated by Russia's Artem Levin in the 75kg Muay Thai final of the SportAccord World Combat Games in China.
It was sweet revenge for the Russian after being knocked out by the Thai in Sweden two years ago.
Thailand won four golds at the event through Sattra Paleenaram (women's 54kg), Panupan Tanjad (men's 63.5 kg), Jeerasa Inudom (men's 67kg) and Teerapong Dee (men's 71kg).
Thai coach Surat Sianglor said he was satisfied with the performance of the team but was disappointed Yodsaenklai missed out.
''He never trained with us going into the tournament,'' said Surat, adding that The Contender Asia winner preferred to prepare at his Fairtex camp in Pattaya.
''I do not blame him but he had the wrong tactics in the fight.''
There were eight Thai fighters in the tournament with Pisanu Khunchart (Sau Por Pongsawang) being called in as a replacement in the men's 81kg division. Pisanu lost in the quarter-final.
''I did not pin any hope on Pisanu because I never knew him,'' said Surat, adding the boxer was brought into the tournament by Stephan Fox, the secretary general of International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA).
Wisanu Chankhuntod took silver in the men's 57kg.
Other six gold medals in Muay Thai went to Peru, Canada, Ukraine, Belarus, Spain and Finland. Each Thai gold medallist will get one million baht from the government while Wisanu will receive 500,000 baht.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear finally thats world combat event.
Looks like Brenda (Spore) was unlucky to paired up with Thai fighter in the 1st round.
Seems like this event is not well represented by most countries, such as:
Japan & Brazil skipping Jiu Jitsu.
Cuba not in Boxing
Also too bad MMA is not part of the discipline, maybe they consider it as multi disciplines instead of single discipline combat.
