fightg
Hi there,
I have seen Fight Generation's website and was wondering if anyone who trains there could give me an overall description of the quality of training, the facilities they have e.t.c
Have seen the price of $80 for unlimited sessions and I am left wondering if it is too good to be true.
To avoid complications about "advertising gyms" you can also PM me
Thankyou

So what you're saying is you trained there 4-5 months last year, then here:
http://muaythai.sg/suphanahong_gym_golden_mile_complex
on December 24th 2008 you're saying:
i wana learn to real form of muay thai, but which gym shd i go??
So if you didn't learn the "real form of muay thai" at fightg how come you give such a big rating? I don't think even fairtex can demand such a huge number...
m234 bro, my advice is to search the site a bit more, you'll find many threads about this touchy subject
Cheers

i think everyone should try keeping their hair on.
My computer kept beating me at chess.
But it was no match for me at Muay Thai.

I think fightg is very good.
There are sessions almost everyday and it is split to basic and advanced class for each sessions. The sessions are not updated on the website. They have a lot more classes now.
One can join for any sessions, Muay Thai, MMA, BJS. For example the 4 sessions pack you can come one per week in a month or 4 days in a week or even 2 sessions in a day. It is very flexible for busy people, NS men, Students. No obligations to come on in fixed schedule. Don't even need to come on and left on time.
Can come for "Several Trial" sessions on different day as they never checked. LOL
Instructors, Young guys, friendly, not too serious, not like BMT SGT, more like friends, Stanley was doing Degree in Sport Science, Yu Ming also degree in NTU and some other guys. [Same instructors teaching in NTU]
People (dont know about other gym, but in fightg)
ranges from Sec2 dropout, gangsters?, N level, O level, ... degree holder, Post Grad), 20% girls, 80% guys, 90% locals and 10% foreigner,
lazy people like me, to serious fighters going for competition. Quality of the people is not bad.
If really very interested can ask them to give you extra lessons "FOR FREE" to brush up all the skills or for competitions, Light Sparring, Outside the sessions timetable.
Facilities wise suggest you go down and see. No air-con?, lack of toilet?
They insists on a lot on Safety. They do punch people as punishment when they overdone and cause injury to others. After it is the technique and defense that is important, not the strength.
They operate more like a community rarer than a formal school.
stanley doing degree in sport science? wow. didnt knew that
stanley doing degree in sport science? wow. didnt knew that
Oops! Did I say something wrong? I think there is nothing secretive about that. I encouraged for people to strive for success. I remember that time he is having exam and Yuming took over for sometimes. I did not know he did not tell rest.
hmmmmm, I've trained at fightG but then again. I'm a gym hopper? I train here and there a little while..(been to a couple of gyms in clarke quay and the one lavender) What the Ajarhns have to teach is what i want to learn. I think you can call me a jack of the trade but not a master? Or do I give too myself too much credit? Ok, back to the topic.
Of all the gyms I've been to, I would say fightG will be a good place to start with. The guys there are friendly so you can ask them questions. I refer to both trainers and seniors. They wont eat you up so no worries
Training there is basically pad holding. And this is the major flaw in my opinion. Lets say that day you end up partnering a guy smaller than you. so shorter, or taller. You get the point. It'll be pretty hard for both of you to train together. Can you imagine if you're supposed to kick at the chest level of someone who is 30cm higher when you are just a beginner? Or you're a beefy person and your one hard kick hurt your pad holder despite his best efforts to take your kick. im not joking. i've seen it happened before.
Well, I think i've said enough. in my martial art journey. FightG gave me a good start. Gave me my basics but that's just it.
5 words of advice if you intend to go to fightG "Don't forget your groin guard!"

hello m234,
im with fightG for around 4-5 months during the year '08.
pls do not take my comments as the key factor in deceiding if u should train there or not. different people experiences differently and their needs in training differs too.
i would give my comments on fightG.
and also, feel free to head down to the gym and see whats the training is like.
do not be embarrassed. the insructors are friendly !
im not advertising but just giving comments xD
firstly, let me asnwer ur first question. hhahaha !
u have too many questions already ! xD
with regards to the quality of training.
on the scale of 10, 10 being the best and 0 being the worst, i would rate it 9.5.
i rate it 9.5 because of the following factors
1) ability to provide required attention
2) instrcutors able to push u. their training are tough, encouragement from instructors will keep form giving up
3) they teaches muay thai moves in detail. telling why u should do this and that, telling u what to avoid etc.
4) and the last thing they posees is , THE WILL TO TEACH U AND WONT HOLD BACK ANYTHING THEY KNOW !
for point number 2, i would explain their training regime. so u can have a idea of it. the training starts with warm-up, which could get u breathless cause its a little hard.( thats for me xD) after that, they will teach u moves and u got to practice it. they will ask u to burst, which means use all ur strength and do it quickly.
after that, they would ask u to punch the pads, kick the pads( each legs 20) before they give u a break.
after u come back from ur break. u would repeat > learning moves > burst > punch pads > kicking pads. sometimes, they inculde push ups etc too.
it may seems to be easy, but when u are there, ur mind would all be enduring !!
the instructors would also look out for people who are giving up, and would shout out some encouraging words.
where is the 0.5 points went ?
it went to " no gym is perfect "
with the facilites there, they are able to carry out decent trainings and they do have a "mini" gym. they do also have a ring for sparring.
if im not wrong, they do conducts sparring during the lesson which is definetly good. dont worry, there is protectiong gears, but personal items they dont provide xD.
however, i got to say that they do not shine in terms of facilites xD
ermm, for the payement
IF IM NOT WRONG !!!
its 85$ for students ??
and u can train all types of martial arts they teaches there.
perharps u can give them a call ??
and to end off.
would like to say that this is my comment and time passes, gyms changes. its 09 year. my time in the gym was 08 year. so yea. dun take it too seriously.
any offence in my comments, i apologise for it.
train hard. bleed less.
fightG produces tough people.
their training is hard.
aite. good luck.
apologies for my command in english.
c6 for olvls =x
and darren is my favourite instructor there : )
no martial arts dominates.
its all about the user using it in the correct time in the correct situation.
muay thai very good !
