Private Training
Hi
I have been training with Evolve for just over a month. Their facilities are good but, even at the 0630 morning class, 10 people to one trainer is common . In the evenings and on the weekends, 20-25 to 1 or two trainers. I feel I am practising... but not learning, as I hardly ever get any tips or advice at all regarding technique. And it's not becuase I'm a natural.
So I'm interested in trying to 1-to-1 / private lessons to supplement Evolve. Unfortunately, Evolve is too expensive (250 dollars an hour approx).
Can anyone recommend a good instructor from experience with a cost of, say, 75-150 dollars an hour?
Thanks
SR
Try BXG they have two very skillfull trainers, and prices are within your budget
I'll spar you for free if you got a place where we can train.
Kind offer Crpz but I am new to the gym as well as the forums. I've only got a month or so of MT under my belt and need to learn a lot.
Thanks everyone else for your suggestions. Keep them coming if possible and I will look into BXG.
Hi Statham_Race,
Noted you had disabled receipt of PM, would be great if you can drop us a query here to find out more about our 1on1 program.
We offer the convenience of training at your residence as our instructors will bring the essential equipment (pads, mitts, ropes etc) to ur place.
Preview clips can also be found at the main site here

Hi SR,
I had the same problem as you. I use to go to class with 20plus other ppl and did not get much attention. Also to mention the smell and sweat.
Now I am on PT (1on1) and the learning curve is soooooo much better. I now do PT twice a week. 10 lesson package at $750. (IE: 75 per lesson) Each lesson is 1hr.
Its worth the extra $$ if your pocket permits. I now have new respect for the sport and train 10X harder.
If all goes well, I will see my first fight this year end.
KickMe - where are you actually recommending? Thanks.
Hi SR,
I can not seam to PM you. Sorry but I dont like to mention names online.
Can you try to PM me so I can reply you. Thanks

FYI, I've had one lesson with Terrence at Hill Top and I intend to take more.
The price is affordable for me and I prefer his method of teaching. There is no language barrier and he takes the time to 'break down' every punch and kick and explain not just how to perform them, but why certain things are as they are. I'm pretty OCD at times, but this matters to me. Whether it swimming, using weights in the gym, of boxing, I don't like to practice unless I know in my mind that my form is good (or I know where it need improvement, at least).
I think a major problem with Muay Thai training is that the Thai approach to training (and I'm about to generalise a little) - repetition - while great if you are a Thai child training every day at a camp, if just not applicable for someone who wants to go 1 or 2 times a week and actually learn something - not just do their best to mimic what they see the guy at the front of the class doing.
burningman and scramble.
Hey guys, do you guys have a place where we can spar? I sure don't. But I got everything else (16+oz gloves, helmet, cup, shin guards).
I'm about 172cm, 69kg BTW. How about you guys? and how experienced are you guys?
Im 165 60kg. I have a place along holland rd near 6th ave. Been training for years but little sparring experience
me 166 61kg in MT for few month only few sparring
crpz32 what about u?
burningman your place is indoor?
if can text me easy
darn. you guys seem well matched. I've been doing it for a very long time and I feel I might be relegated to just a teaching role with you guys. Lately I've been kinda busy so I'm going to have to back out unless there are some experienced guys I can spar with come along. hope you guys understand. Sorry.
Hi All,
I feel that most of us are still new to this sport with on less than 1year of training. My recommendation is that we train under supervision before we group up and spar. As we may be doing the wrong thing and even hurt ourselves.

Well said!!

Any danger of starting a seperate thred to arrange for sparring?
Thanks.

Hi, have you tried to talk with them directly? As in pull the trainer aside and ask him for help? So he will remember your face, then he probably will give you some tips.
Regarding a good PT it's not really easy to find one. You need to inquire at the mt gyms, some have PT. Contact zestykicks too.
