Breathing
This question might sounds a little stupid but I'm new to this. I was told that breathing technique is very important. Can't I just breathe normally? Or should i breathe out hard with every strike? with my mouth or my nose ?
also, during any vigorous activity, place the tip of your tongue at the top of the ceiling of your mouth while breathing.
this ensures you don't breathe through your nose only or mouth only. this ensures you breathe through both at the same time.
why: better than breathing through nose only coz you take in more air. better than breathing through mouth only because it prevents your throat from becoming dry and get into a spluttering fit.
of course when punching, hitting, lifting, smacking, etc still go and breathe out lah.
My computer kept beating me at chess.
But it was no match for me at Muay Thai.
there was a scene in Never Back Down.. 'grasshopper speech' i thought it was pretty funny ![]()

Hey Bro,
The main reason why it's encouraged to exhale when executing a technique is simply - More Power. This is how it works :
Exhaling when you execute a punch/kick empties your body (lungs and stomach) of air. What this does is basically allow you to twist your torso faster, tighter and to a wider range of motion. Powerful kicks and punches depend largely on the torque, twist and rotation of the torso and the hips, this is why exhaling when executing them is important.
Just a side note : When you see fighters screaming when they kick or punch (like in karate or tkd), or what is called a Kiai, that is their way of exhaling quickly when executing a technique. Not to mention the fact that it sometimes downright scares the opponent.
Hope that helped. =)
Can someone tell me how to breath while im clinching? i always find that i hold my breath during clinches
It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe

No question is stupid. Only the answer
You should breathe out when you punch or kick, helps a lot. But don't overdo the breathing, looks weird
