does skipping strengthen the ankles?
cos my right ankle is kinda weak..and its my master leg..
used to practice tae kwon do doing all those high risk kicks which required alot of twisting..ended up spraining my right ankle a few time..now abit weak..
TKD kinda kills the fighting spirit
Hansen would surely know about the skipping part....
y tkd kills fighting spirit?
dunno man, it seems to me that way.
BTW, we had some threads here before with some questions about tkd, nobody could asnwer - maybe you can help, why the tkd practitioners always keep their hands down so they can be super-easily kicked in the head and ko-ed? youtube is full of clips like that. Are they protecting their body? Why don't they protect their head with the hands and their body with leg blocks?
Cheers

simple..cos in TKD the main objective is to kick fast and end fast..
i learn till black belt..then now learn muay thai..i realised that i dont have the habit to block my head..cos in TKD they teach kicks like crescent kick..which when mastered can block hits to the head..TKD sacrifices balance for speed and reaction time..most practitioners are able to react very quickly..i still have some of that..lol..my frens kick me in school their legs always ends up in my hand..like 2nd nature..
anyone knows how to skip with the little feet movement like heel forward..tip back the switch foot?
i see pple in my gym doing that..but kinda hard to excute while skipping..always miss timing..
wat do u mean jorden? like switching ur foot and skipping on alternate foot?
yeah..something like alternate foot..i tried but always fail..

Guys, have a look at the 3-step breakdown, follow it step by step and you will be able to learn alternate foot, boxer step...wateva!!
Otherwise , drop by ECP every sat from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Check out the venue at www.skipping.sg (scroll down the homepage)

Hi bro,
yes you can skip to strengthen ankles, but I personally wouldn't recommend it as your primary ankle strengthening exercise. This is because if you do normal skipping, you are only exercising your ankles in a limited rotation cos you're just jumping up and down. A better, less tiring exercise is just simple walking on grass or beach sand.
This is good for your ankles cos the un-even surface strengthens your ankle's stability.
Hope that helped. =)
