short sightedness ??
Jus gt a curious question.....is it possible for some1 who has short sightedness to learn muay thai?? I meant tat if he wear specs is it tat he mus wear contact lense ??
i wear contacts too for the most part its okay but if you get punched in the eye your contact comes out once in awhile
i've been wearing contacts for bout 4 or 5 years now ..
i have not encounter times of which my contact lenses actually came out from my eyes ..
even when i went for diving , it didn come off at all ...
much less during trainings .. so i guess its juz how you handle it i guess

motivation to train harder =)
build ur defense so their punches dont hit ur eye.
is in the army...
for me, my contacts have popped out of my eyes a few times. it's not the best solution for me.
at some point i'm gonna have to seriously consider getting lasik done.
My computer kept beating me at chess.
But it was no match for me at Muay Thai.
For me, my eyesight is bad but not that bad. So i think, i just dont wear them. But the only problem is, when i dont wear, i dont regconize who is who from afar. Haha.
Hi,
I wear glasess, perferctly ok, as long as the frames/ legs is firm and has a good grip, so it doesnt fell off, when u perspire and do ur running and jumping. However, i must say contact lenses are still the best. Alternatigely, get a spectacle band... those we use to wear during the army? it will keep the glasses firm.
i wear specs too, it does not affect the training but when come to spar u cant be wearing specs, i tried wearing contact but when i got hit , the contact lenses would move sometimes and it hurt, and if i dun wear contact, it is kind of blur, does it affect sparing if i am shortsighted and i dun wear spec or contact lense during sparing?
Bennyng, i think, itd be okay if ur degrees are not that bad. How bad is the blurr sights.?
If any one gets lasik get the "bladeless" type I did the "blade" type meanign the had to cut my eye flaps out (what eva they r called) to perform the operation makin' sparring not an option now cuz I can't sustain blows to the head. None the less MT is more a sport for me than wanting to fight so its still good I'd recomend lasik if u can afford it it changed my life ! LoL ~
eh..another alternative..dont wear better!! Terrance Tong use to fight without glasses. He tried contact lens and he didnt like it. So everytime b4 his fight, we have to hold his hand like a littel boy and guide him to the ringside. And once he is inside...he just do his job. No intimidation from his opponent can scare him..becoz he cant see his face!!! hahaha..just whack whatever he can see enough.....btw..we miss you terrance!!

if you just wanna learn, then it's ok to wear glasses. a few of them in my beginner class have glasses on. even my coach wears glasses.
for me, i put on contact lenses. it's a matter of personal choice. i don't like my sweat getting onto my glasses and then ruining my view.
my acuvue daily contact lenses cost $39 for a box of 30 (half a month considering that i have two eyeballs). i only wear them when required so one box actually goes longer than half a month for me.
there are cheaper options out there. just ask your optician if you're considering this route.
