suphanahong gym @ golden mile complex
greetings.
i would like to ask for a review from anyone who have trained in suphanahong gym.
the quality of trainings,
the instructors there etc etc..
& also, which is the best gym to train to become a full fledge fighter.
there is quite alot of gym in singapore, but how many provides the trainings that gives u the real deal of muay thai..
i wana learn to real form of muay thai, but which gym shd i go??
I went there like 2 times when my trainers was on holidays. The training there abit unstructured leh u go there pay can train liao. You start with skipping 10 mins then shadow after tat bag work and proceed to pads. After pad work they don care about u liao lol. When i went there were trainers samming and narsuan from sasiprapa but i heard right now they brought another trainer from jor luksamut.Training with samming is very tiring because he kinda work less combos and just kick kick kick kick. This is all i can offer as i didnt kick pads with narsuan before. The fees from what i remembered was 25 per lesson and 200 per month. If u have any questions please ask:)
Only got 2 trainers and ratio is like 8 pax to 2 trainers. No Showers. Only changing rooms. Have inital structure of package when just open. but keep changing. $25 per lesson. and anyone feel like it can just go and pay $25 and train. $230 for 10 lessons expire in 2 months.
Initial unlimited package - $200 per month
After which they will ask you to sign for the various
2 weeks - $150
3 months- $580
6 months - ???
Says everyone starts a begineers level but however they say after basic, they teach others etc. but no diff to basic.
Plus points
Nice enviroment to train.
New equipments
Boxing Ring
Free weights and sit up machine
Bad points
no proper training structure, pretty much more like trainers mood to teach
a lot of bag work like 5 rounds
pad work depends on trainers, sometimes can be only 1 round of 3 mins if there is a lot of people.
feels like more interested to make money kind of gym (personally)
Training starts with skipping for 15 mins, after which 2 rounds shadow boxing, close to 5 rounds of bag work (3mins each) pad work in between. (because 2 trainers only) sometimes 1 round, sometimes 2 rounds. Ends with some drills like kicking of bag, kneeing of bag, elbows of bag then some light exercise.
overall here is my review,
Out of 10
Space: 6.5 / 10
Equipment: 8.5/ 10 (thai pads, focus pads, bags with different size, ring, uppercut box, free weights and workout machines)
Trainer: 6.5 / 10 (good experience fighters, with 200 over fights but once again a good fighter might not be good trainer. No proper structure to groom fighters.)
People in gym: 7.5 / 10 (overall very friendly enviroment)
Value for money:6.5 / 10
Pro shop: 8.5 / 10 (got twins brand to fairtex to FBT, can get almost any gear there)
RTT: maybe
located on the 3rd floor of the building. Lady owner of sports shop on second level is part of shareholder i think.
whoooooooooaaa.
so many negative response from the gym,
i think i nt going there train liao le.
but, any gym to intro??
i prefer clases that give the real deal to students.
need some recomendations please !!
Mai Chai Khun Thai,
u seemed experienced,
can u recommend me a gym that is excellent for grooming fighters?
I went there to train before.
To me, every gyms teach different things.
I felt that its quite good, the trainers, the people are really friendly.
A very carefree place to train in.
True enough, its abit like moneytalks place. Well that's singapore.
I went there to train a few times, so the trainers are actually quite friendly to me.
They recongized me, and prolly become friends. Once they even asked for my name and write it in thai to rmber me.haha.
We did went out have meals tgt, talked for sometime and took pictures tgt. haha.
I rmber once my coach(not suphanahong's) told me, you wanna learn things from a master/teacher.
show them that you're sincere.
You can pay bucks to them, but they can just teach u limited things.
I dont know if its true that those old traditional camps in thailand dont really accept or welcome foreigners.
So money to them doesnt really matters.
Anyway, sorry for being side-tracking, I learnt quite a few things there.
To me, every gyms got something to offer.
Cheers !
Go thailand, they make you a champion in one day at there
I trained there a couple of times and found it quite good Suanming is really good he corrected a lot of my mistakes and is committed to train you for the ring IF you are serious abt it he will know it and help you in ur ambitions (this is with most other gyms) I am now on unlimited package with BNM cuz its closer to my house how ever my ankle tendons are totally screwed from training daily and will pop in Suphanahong every once in a while I am not at BNM.
Good trainers I've seen include Ajan Petch BNM now they have Ajan Preecha/Meedcha, Ajan Ekk (Punch), Ajan Ming (Suphanahong), Terrence (Hilltop) and the rest I have yet to meet = )
Little video we took in Suphanahong
thanks thanks for all those review
however, i really wana know, where is the best place to train in singapore.
wherewhere??
Its not where you train local gyms with good showings at the recent fights at jurong I am sure most gyms have the trainers you are looking for. However its how hard you can train all the trainers we recommend are qualified all have fought in the ring with 100s of fights as experience just pick one that suits your budget and location and bring a BIG heart if you can take their 5 or 1 or 15 rounds of pad work and what eva else sparring/conditioning, later on ASK for more MOST will be glad to push you further!
ma 2 cents and I am sure most will agree although each may have their personal fave trainers = )
i totally agreed.
Being a fighter isnt easy at all.
You got to have a strong mind, strong body, strong heart and alot more.
i totally agree with yakuza bro.
strong mind, strong heart bring you to another different level in any martial arts.

Hi....If u really want the real muay thai deal you can go to lana muay thai or FWA. I heard they trained good muay thai. FWA also organised the S1 championship.
Samming is a good trainer...... He trained a couple boys and one of them is an S1 champion. His techniques is damn good.
whoooooooooaaa.
so many negative response from the gym,

Dun listen to what others have said. U should give it a try. Gyms like Lana Muay Thai,FWA,BXG they produce champions.
The trainers are good. Keep on looking for the gyms that produce champions.
thanks thanks everyone in their time in giving me precious oppinnions
appreciate that to the most. thank thanks
MTW also got produce louis wong..
MTW also got produce louis wong..![]()
Almost every gym has their famous fighters
BXG's zach
ASF's wangyu
MTW louis
etc etc
to be good, it takes
20% external factors ( trainers etc)
10% talent
70% hardwork
so just choose a gym that suits u and train like hell there.
cause having famous fighters isnt really everything
is in the army...

Agreed... cause previously they only mentioned lana, fwa & bxg...so trying to add into the list only.......
in the end still gotta depend mostly on yourself..

You serious? then wouldn't all the gyms in Singapore be closing...? -_-|||
I think he meant 1 decade LoL
My comments is just my experience. The ultimate most is look for a trainers that can connect with u and also understand your goals that is the most important. There is no 1 best gym or ace instructor that you train with will make you champion. Only instructor that gives you his commitment and understands you is the most important.
Happy finding
: ) really appreciate all those comments given out there
once again, thanks.
....... they brought another trainer from jor luksamut.Training with samming is very tiring because he kinda work less combos and just kick kick kick kick . ..
Kicking is indeed tiring. Recently for all my padworks I was retching and on the verge of vomiting, during pad work and during the break.
I was like what? Why are the others doing combinations like jab jab kick or elbowing and kneeing while I was firing my 10 - 15 kicks per leg consecutively. Alternate legs. Stop 5 seconds. Move around. Then shoot again. With less than 5 movements using the hands or knees for the whole 3 minutes.
AaaaHHHHhhh! ~~ ~
Everytime I look at the clock, I am like WHAT WHAT WHAT !~~ Only 15s off the clock? I still have 2 full #$%^&* minutes to go. But I kicked %^$^%$ times !~
"Kick kick kick!"
"Awww way ! Aww Way ! ~ "
1Minute 20seconds left
And I be looking like a wasted man who drank too much and was trying to hold back vomit even though I had not anything to vomit !~ Haha
"Kiiick !~"
I look at my trainer with pleading eyes, and disbelief. Then he will try and trip me which, I will inevitably as always end up on the ring floor.
"BeEHHHHhhh~" Break. Whew...
During the break, he would look at me and look at the other trainer in the ring and mumble something in Thai and both would burst out laughing.
I would laugh sheepishly. I hope they were so happy at my powerful kicks that they could not contain their happiness.
I would be giggling as I get up, touch his pads and go for the second round. Breathing very heavily and still looking like shit.
"KIeeeCK !"
Moommy where are you when I needed you most?
In retrospect, they must have a reason for it. Making me "kick kick kick" Do I need to know the answer?
Yes. Though that would come when I can attain deeper understanding of this wonderful art.
I highly suspect and deeply hope that the reason is because my hands are too powerful. Like Mas Oyama bull killing kind of powerful. Ho Ho ho
Ahh.. Nice to dream sometimes.
a kicks a simple yet one of the most effecient moves in a fight/spar.
an elbows deadly, but hw often do u get to use it.
a strong kick can damage ur opponent even if its blocked.
and personally i feel a kick takes more outta u den a punch or knee or elbow does, so its good for training stamina.
n lastly, my trainers would do the same, attackin me when im alr gasing from all that kicking, but i guess its their way of telling us hw we should keep our guard up even when we'r damn tired.
is in the army...
i do tend to share the same sentiments here...been there only once but its a different feel from my gym. not much of a structure to training, but i think the trainers are quite good in correcting technique. then again, its always better to learn from a master than a fighter.
I heard form Thai student in Singapore that Muay Thai very popularin there.
So I come to this website and I have very surprised that it more than I think so much.
In the past Muay Thai is for real fighter that trained it at their career but now have people interest to train more but still look like less than you are.
One thing I always see that is not much real fighter can be good teacher.
They always teach as they were taught in the past and sometime it is not suitable way for you.
If you find good fighter you must looking for who that do good fight.
If you find good teacher you must looking for who that do good fighter.
You should see how much good that his student can do (average and best and how long their practice /how much time their spend for), so you will see who should be your teacher.
Hope you happy and success in your training
Good one Surapon, that's pretty much sums it up!

I've gone to Suphanahong. They ground basics VERY well IMO, and Chris is just an awesome dude. The environment might be a little... Rustic, especially if you're used to training in more comfy environments. I sweated like a dunnowhat there, and drank like 4 x 330mls or 100plus. It was so HOT!
But you should give it a shot!
IN SOVIET RUSSIA-
hi,anyone know whats the current rates training there?thinking or training again, have not been training muay thai for the past 15 months....
pain is temporay...glory is forever....
Hey bro info is here:
This place had a change in management. Is now under a new management. No longer related to the store that sells muay thai equipment on the 2nd floor of goldenmile.
Chris is the head coach and all of is other coaches have been trainers and have vast experience.
Chris very precise teaching. Down to every single detail. Have trained a couple of good fighters. Kudos
Looking forward to get back into muay thai again.

Thanks. Will drop by if in the area.
if i not wrong, is chowraiooi muay thai now the new name at suphanahong?
Suphanahong Gym no longer exists. New management took over. Gym is now called Chowraiooi Muay Thai (www.chowraiooimuaythai.com). New set of trainers as well. By March, the Thai trainer (Rajadamnoen 105 lbs champion) is back.

I heard some reviews on this gym but personally I have not been there. I heard its expensive (don't know how much) and they teach minimal and very basic and keep a close watch on the time, once the time is up, you have to leave or pay extra or something like that. More reviews, please.
Anyway, I am curious to have a look at this place too
