What to expect for a first lesson?
Hi everyone, noob qns here. Like to check with the lao jiaos here what should i be expecting for a 1st lesson?
I attended a trial lesson with my fren at fightg recently, it was quite crowded, with about 20++ beginner/fellow trial students (probably went down on a bad day), so in a way i guess the instructor was not able to pay attention to everyone.
learnt abit of basic fighting stance, jabs and punchs (punching our partner's open palm bare-knuckle - is this normal?), follow by some pad work (again bare-knuckle). my fren was commenting that the whole lesson seems to be conducted in a haphazard manner (maybe she wasn't happy about cutting her knuckle punching the pad).
as we have not attended any martial arts lessons before, we weren't really sure what to expect, hence hoping some of the more experienced guys/gals here could offer some guide?
ps: not trying to spark off any flame war or anything here, just trying to clear up some doubts and find out more about how lessons are conducted in various gyms. If i've unknowningly offended anyone my apologies
Hmmm... yeah, punching pads bare-knuckle in the first lesson it's... like your friend said
Punnet is right, wear gloves and wrap your hands, you might injure your wrists, takes a very long time to recover. Maybe the trainer at that time was one of the junior ones?
Anyway, if you want to try a real muay thai gym, pm me. I know of a very respectable school which opened a new training place very close to the Central, same area as your "old gym"
'cause I'm sure as hell you'll like this one!
Oh yeah, BTW, it's not my gym, so it cannot be considered gym advertising!!!!!

Politicians and diapers must be changed often and usually for the same reason.
hahahahahha good one! you guys are a funny bunch, many ppl said this before, but for real, I mean it!!!!

all i want to say is pls wear gloves since its the first time ur punching pads , and its always recommended to wear gloves whilepunching pads or bags or anything , punch too hard u cud injure urself. maybe it was haphazard cos of lack of space or cos of the number of people or maybe both. first couple of lessons are usually fun where u learn the basics of standing and moving and throwing jabs n crosses the right way.
