Does anyone know how I can get cheaper Lumpinee tickets via a contact in Thailand? They tend to sell the 3,000 baht tickets to foreigners; I just want the 500 baht ones.
I went a couple of months back with the missus to support a mate that was fighting. It was my first time so I didn't mind paying 1,500 each for ringside VIP seats (usually goes for 2,000).
I'm going this Friday afternoon and check out the fight card below:
Penek vs. Sam-A
Lumpinee Stadium featherweight title
Saenchai vs. Singdam
Lumpinee Stadium lightweight title
Damien Alamos vs. Aranchai
Lumpinee Stadium light-welterweight title
Wanchai vs. Sarawut
Lumpinee Stadium light-flyweight title
Muangthai Sor Boonyiam vs. Super lek
Lumpinee Stadium super-flyweight title
Sagetdao vs. Petchboonchu FA Group
Diesel lek vs. F16
My maternal grandmum was southern Thai and we brown people do all look alike so I'm trying to pass off as a local and hopefully get to sneak past without anyone noticing.
Will be helpful if anyone has a friend that can help buy me the local price tickets as I'm gonna get found out at the counter!
as a farang you wont get thai prices.... simple racism - however you can get some decent discounts if you are training at or are friends with a Gym who buys tickets or has fighters on... i.e 1500 for a 2000 one etc is what I have paid... far better to be cornering! then its free
awesome card...may go to support Damien etc....
www.muaythai2000.com - Robs website.... he is a reporter/photographer based in Bangkok (co owns Kiatphonthip gym) click on the fighting schedule and it shows the cards 1 week in advance

Brilliant! Thanks for the link, Diesel.

I'm defo looking forward to watching damien fight. I think tickets for this Friday might go up to 3,000 baht! bloody hell.. I'll still watch it though. Diesel, let me know if you're going. Will be cool to hang out.
will do.... Damien is such a nice lad and trains so hard - they have a solid team there.... Penek is still young and this time I think Sam-A maybe have his number...was doing fine until he got rocked .... but I'll support Penek as same camp as Damien, Charlie etc and the guys I know ....
the big fights like this are usually 3000 yes....but well worth it .....compared to something like OneFC where you get old washed up UFC guys and handpicked opponents for some gyms this is super value for a one off trip.
Hahhahahah.. One FC is scandalously shambolic but let's keep that for another thread. I heard Sam-A v Peneak has been cancelled? That will be a mighty shame but the rest of the card is still a compelling enough reason for me to fly out there for one night!
Penek has an injury so i wasnt sure if it was 100% and it being thailand last minute wage increases etc etc.... (i know as of Sunday he was just waiting to see whether he could fight or not)
Any chance to see Seanchai fight live is worth it.... best fighter of any discipline - the word 'master' is overused so much.... but he is a 'master'
I was lucky enough to train at 13 coins around 5 years ago when Saenchai was fighting out of there. I would get to spar with him which was more like a session of shadow boxing as I never actually got to hit him, most of the time it was me attempting to defend his cartwheel kicks and jump kicks. What surprised me was how little he seemed to train compared to the other fighters this was even when he had a fight coming up. He would run for a bit, then do a couple of rounds on the bag and then a few rounds on the pads and then spend his time sparring with the likes of me and others for an hour and that was just once a day. Never saw him in the morning session.
Also, his pad man was a monster my shins will never forget the pads he used to hold I am sure they were filled with concrete!
I know technically its blasphemy but the thais over train IMO.... no need to run so much - Saenchai isnt someone who wades in (unless he gets pissed off!) so he has just perfected his timing to a tee which is what you do in sparring - you dont need to do MMA/Brazilian MT (for want of a better word) 100% killer sparring to get better.... technical work pays off - he is just amazing full stop.... and you see more people try to emulate him (cartwheel kicks etc) than anyone else... hell the cartwheel kick is actually illegal but the stadiums let him do it as he is who he is....
Penek is off..... Sam-A is now fighting on the 11th vs Pokaew Fonjaengchonburi with a 1 million baht side bet..... Rittidet Wor Wantawee vs Palangtip Nor Sripung which was meant to happen on the 11th now replaces the Sam-A/Penek fight on this fridays super show

That's the thing though, we try and emulate what they do in thailand or even old school boxing which is the long runs in the morning but the modern thinking is that its only good for those that need to lose fat. That youre better off with shorter more intense cardio workout, which is more specific to fighting.
The same goes for eating, over in Thailand you would eat after morning training and then in the evening, yet these days your told 5-6 smaller meals a day.
Was really looking forward to Sam-A avenging his loss but no matter, will still be there on Friday night. Do you reckon I can get cheaper tix even though there's no petchyindee fighters on the card (Nong-O's was cancelled some time back)?
yeah - one thing we westerns do which is a positive and a negative is question things - downside is a fair few lack the respect for elders that is prevalent in the Asian culture - I think running is important...for me apart from diet it gets my weight down and mentally is good - however 10k every morning is too much .... i favour 3 runs a week and then sprint work....a fight is never the same as the next - so being explovie is as important as having a gas tank..... i think we have gone a bit obsessive on the conditioning aspect at home now though (saying that plenty of thais i know cheat if the trainer isnt running with them and run out then get the subway back! or have a sit in the park and then jog back hahaha)...at the risk of less technical work..... finding the balance is the key
anyway saenchai is still the nuts
yes if you are using Petchyindee gym to get tickets there is a discount... i have got discounts via Jitti gym every time I have gone although when i went to Lumpinee vs Raja champions there was no discount - first time....so this might be the same... the line up is still quality ......
There are three categories of seats: 'cheap', regular, and ringside. The foreigner prices are:
- THB1000
- THB1500
- THB2000
I'm not sure you are able to obtain the local pricing. Though if you do manage, do tell us how! When are you going?

I am going on friday too !!
awesome from Damien
still Lumpinee champion - plus Singdam on fire at the moment beating Seanchai albeit with a weight advantage as usual...
Damien turned Aranchai's face into a jackfruit. It was brutally beautiful. And that left hook that knocked him down......!!
Diesellek's KO was sick as well!
yeah Mart loves the left hook (Mart was Anuwats trainer and now at Sitnumnoi/Singpatong) so those boys work a lot of left body and head hooks...
he lives and breaths muay thai (Damien) glad Lumpinee finally got his photo up - only took them almost 2 mths to change it ! hahaha
I'm going to watch the fight at Lumpinee this Friday. According to the website that Diesel kindly provide
, the fight card is as follows:
1 Namtarn-A Sitthailand vs Phet-Aroon Looknongyaitium
2 Yodphet Srisuwan vs Kukaew Kiatisaknanunt

4 Boraphet Lookprabaht vs Dawprasook Hokitchen
5 Chamuakphet Chor.Kasemvilart vs Phetkarat Jitmuangnont
6 Phetmorakot Teded99 vs Muangnueng Pumphanmuang
