Fights on the 16th June 2012
Anyone heard of these upcoming fight? amy details like venue, times and even whose fighting (or gyms).
exactly.... fight night and where are the adverts, where is the facebook group, emails, posters....hell any form of advertising to get the public interested.... ZERO..... thats why MT fails in singapore
As per the other thread, I have my own conspiracy theory on this.
and here is an example of why its so bad

it says 'Singapore Team Pre Selection" but yet i mailed them before asking for details to put fighters forward and had no reply'
closed shop
ok, so after much digging and trust me I think even the KGB would struggle to get info on this event. I hear its actually a National Qualifier not sure what you qualify for? maybe an award for being the only people in Singapore who know this shit is on. But it seems its actually going to be held on the 17th June at Top Gym and clearly there is limited space, so I hear that 10 gyms have been invited and they can bring limited spectators hence they are limited to the number of fighters that can fight.
I dont think anymore needs to be said about the event but I hope any young hopefuls from singapore know this info and can get themselves on/or have already got onto the fight schedule.
I can see in the future with the One FC talking about an Amateur MMA circuit and the likes of Evolve already running tryouts for this, that Muay Thai in Singapore will die its now a matter of when not if as long as Muay Thai has this lack of leadership in Singapore.
competitive Muay Thai will die in Sing.... people will just go to fight in Thailand.... its sad but also reflects the egos and stupidity in Singapore (mainly from instructors and gym owners + the AMAS) The Amateur MMA will be well run as it has money bags Evolve involved and will be advertised which will mean zero crowd bar the odd die hard.... big shame for Muay Thai..... will just revert to some sparring in the gym where MMA guys need standup partners.... which resembles K1 more than anything....
Funny you mention ego's. Most gyms you go into have some motto or sign up saying 'leave your ego's at the door'. Shame they don't live by those values.
Though a lot of the time, I think most are well intentioned but simply dont have the skillset to run a National Organisation and develop something like this. This was an inherent problem in sports even in the UK where they would pick and ex-sportstar to be head of the organisation, yet they had no administrative or business background and the sport struggled. Most forward thinking organisations have moved to bring in people with a significant interest in the sport but with a sound administrative/business background. It's not as if you can't find a local singaporean weekend warrior(9-5 worker) who cant run something like this properly with other people on the board with a similar love for the sport and grounding in business.
Its funny how for such an educated, organised and forward thinking country like Singapore that Muay Thai is stuck in the stone age!
Just saw a FB posting from Top Gym. There is going to be some type of Muay Thai Open on the 25th August and there are going to be Novice, Amateur, Semi-Pro and Pro Fights. I am hoping more details are provided going forward and dont just leave it with the gyms, fi its truly an open then you have to allow people from outside of these gyms to enter as long as they can prove some sort of background in the sport.
COOL...Ill fight anyone in Singapore 85kg or higher..
