Im guessing tickets are only available at FWA. Call them up and enquire. Will call them once my leave is approved. Hope it's not gonna be too late... Wonder if they sell tickets on fight day?
I think the payment to the fight is made on the day itself at the gym.
The last two times it happened this way.

What do you guys think about the fights?
Muay Thai Singapore
I watched the 1st to the last....quite a number of fights were clashes of the bulls and not MT style...lots of wrestling, only few good fights with clear MT techniques

The last 3 pro matches was very exciting, thumbs up to the fighters!
But what kinda spoilt the day was one of the medal matchup(not sure amateur or novice)where this fighter from MAF(Blue) vs another smaller size fighter(red corner). The difference in their built was pretty obvious and the fighter from MAF was totally not showing any respect to his opponent. Attitude was way too proud and 'yaya'.. Totally not showing any sportmanship to Muay Thai. Even though he came out victory, i think the crowd totally booed his attitude.
So much for fighting a smaller opponent and fighting with full padding and yet so cocky??? It would be interesting to see him removing his padding and fight someone his own size.
On a side note, hopefully MAF instructors would educate their fighters on showing mutual respect to the sport and the opponent.
At the end of the day, yes u win the fight, but did u win any respect?
i think the red corner guy you mean is wei zheng from Bxg
Yea some of the moves dun look like MT i was wondering y they wan to fight as if it was an MMA fight with some throws etc.
Muay Thai Singapore
erm yeah.sorry about the cocky attitude guys.shouldnt have done that.but whats done is done so yeah.sorry if i offended anybody and rest assured next fight it wont happen again.:D
No worries bro, we appreciate you come here and say this =D> we're looking forward to your next fight!!!
Muay Thai Singapore
The fighter may express differently on the ring, so as to be more of the DOMINANT one on the ring. With the confidence, he have won half the fight.
U guys shld have see it from a different view. He may not mean it, but he do not wan to feel inferior to his opponent. Afterall, they had a great fight. Sure both benefits from the fight. Whoever win is not important, but gaining the satisfaction to able to fight on the ring with lots of crowds supporting for him. This is a great experience for both fighters.
Size cannot be said through appearance, who knows. The bigger size fighter have been sweating out real hard so as to drop to his designated weight category. Some things are not to be seen jus from the outside. Afterall, its is known that fighters have to go for weigh in before their match so as to make sure the fight is fair with no weight advantages.
So guys, please do not condem the particular fighter cos of his 'yaya' or proud attitude on ring. Different fighter express differently on the ring.
Jus my 2 cents. Cheers !
And to add on, it is not very nice to see the gym jus simply from the particular fighter.
So as not to be bias, do not have bad remarks or comments on the gym. These may affect their reputation in Singapore's muaythai. As there are jus a newly started gym, so stil do need we guys to publicise for them.

Apologies on the comment on MAF.
My observation was not meant to damage their reputation.
Yes you can try to show confident but on the other hand should not neglect the basic respect attitude. It's not just opinion from one or two person but from the jeering and booing on that day you can see that everyone who was present except for his very own friends or gym mate was very unhappy with the way he presented himself.
he should really learn from some other fighters who not only equipped themselve with the correct skills and attitude before they step into the ring.
Eh, BTW, if you have clips, please post them up, they will stay here forever!
Muay Thai Singapore
Relax guys, he didn't do anything illegal
What about the endless sanda/sanshou throws from HT vs ASF? Indeed the match was over after that kick, but what about the heels behind his opponent legs? No refs saw that
Muay Thai Singapore
So u are tryng to say that booing n jeering is the correct thing to do? @_@ i know that the fighter may be abit over board but still jeering isnt the right thing to do. many fighters in thai also did that to be more of the dominant 1 on the ring. he did apologised and we should just forgive.
anyway it was a good fight and we should cheer on for them in the future fight. \\:D/
Errr....is the "attitude fighter" the main highlight of the whole event? ](*,) Can someone please comment on the ladies fights or Zach's fight and etc...really wish I could have attended the event but couldn't

You're right Mystiq. We shouldn't concentrate on the negative stuff. There will always be something to correct and mistakes to be learned from and that's a good thing.
I came late so my experience is based only on the last 3 fights. I was astonished by the volume of the audience, it was a serious Muay Thai atmosphere! There must've been many good fights, at least the last 3 fights sure gave the audience their 10 dollars' worth.
As for the ladies fight, seriously a contender for fight of the night- title. I'm really proud of the girls, you guys did show everyone that female Muay Thai standard is top notch here. As a first ever fight for Emily, and the coolness of Lena show that we have very good female talent to push for international competitions in the future.
And of course some points to all future and present fighters(and referees and judges), the rules of a fight are pretty simple, almost like you don't even have to go them through. But there are some things that constantly seem to be a bit misty. Like the leg hook. I don't think all the fighters (even experienced) know exactly what is a leg hook. It's the move gaijinu mentioned above, used a lot in mma, grappling, judo etc. But it is not allowed in Muay Thai, and referees should also warn fighters of using it. I don't think I have even once seen referees take action against it in Singapore. Ask your trainer to show it to you and learn to get rid of it.
Second, if the referee stops you when clinching (and whenever he stops you), YOU STOP. You continue protecting yourself, but you STOP STRIKING. It's not the referee's job to take a couple of knees while he tries to keep control of the fight. You must have control to stop when told. If you can't control yourself, you should not be fighting. I've seen some KO's here with striking an opponent over the referee, and that's just ugly.
And then there is the always bizarre eight-count when someone gets kicked/kneed on the balls. What the hell is that? I've seen it so many times and so many clear cases, that it cannot be mistaken for a legal strike on the abdomen. Actually I was told to count for a guy who got a low blow in our friendly sessions before, and when I asked why the answer was: for the safety of the fighter! Ok, i had to think about it a couple of times and the a couple more times, but obviously I did never get the logic in that one... Isn't it more safe to give him enough time to recover and warn the other fighter? Instead of forcing the fighter to get up when he's clearly in a lot of pain while awarding the other fighter a 10-8 round for that 8-count?
Ok, It got a bit negative tone for sure, sorry in advance.. But these things are points that I see coming up regularly every event, and we should whatever we can to make Singapore Muay Thai clean. That gives us a chance to see more technical fights!
i wished the judgement will be more technical, rather than the one who is pushing in to win. doesn't really make sense. let says, i just practice basic muaythai and i push myself to have superb stamina, i just have to push myself through every round chasing my opponent around the ring and i get the win. well, just my thought.
Train hard,
Fight harder.
I hope someone will post videos of the fights.
You're right to say the fight was over after Lai (HT) knocked down his opponent with that spinning back thrust. That was the decisive technique. Lai never learned any Sanda b4, but he did have some MMA training, which explains his instinctive shooting in low and attempting those leg hook take-downs. They're called "Tani-otoshi" in Judo. I would have advised him against using them, but I got chased away by Mervyn after the 1st round. Anyway Lai got punished with many elbows and knees by his opponent for his illegal grappling moves, so I hope he learn his lesson from it. :-k
Lord Obiashiek got them, ask him nicely and maybe he'll post them here!
Muay Thai Singapore
My bad, I never did any mma or sanda, but those takedowns didn't look muay thai style to me either
same ones who allowed 30 seconds of rest instead of calling it off
Well, it wasn't his opponent job to punish for illegal moves, it was the refs/judges' job
Anyway, doesn't matter, both boys put up a good fight!
However is extremely dangerous to shoot low and try to do those leg hooks, I do remember a fight in Japan where the "grappler" lost half an ear because his opponent was elbowing him in a kind of sideways motion aiming straight for the lobe and by the middle of first round it was over, the doc was searching the canvas for the leftovers, luckily someone pointed that the fighter still got it, but it was folded in half over the rest of his ear... :die: gruesome site... don't wanna see that ever again.
Muay Thai Singapore
Also I agree with Antti and the "eight-count nuts kick" - if I'm not mistaken it is used only here - uniquely, huh?
.
The bottom line is: the other guy kicked you in the nuts and you lose a point by being counted. It's WRONG.
Muay Thai Singapore
The back kick did hit the stomach, but if you view it in a different angle the referee Or some may thought it hit the groin.
Dear to all, my boy xiong shen from MAF have appologise to all for what he have done. In life everyone make mistakes, I believe that people whom realised their mistake deserve a chance.
Xiong, me and MAF student will continue to support you, forgive you and love you.
Continue to train hard, look forward for the next fight.
Cheers MAF[/b]
Regarding about Amir and Lai fight, should be over after the back thrush. Don't know why after more than 30 count still continue. Any way both put up a tough fight!!!!!

It was indeed a tough fight for the,. Im curious since its a Pro fight, doesn't the HT fighter know that he is not allow to wrap thick bandage around his ankle for the fight? Don't know if the HT trainer has brief the fighter on this rule before the fight... But can see that the referee has done his job well to inspect thoroughly before the fight start. Is he the referee who hold the final match in The Contender Asia 1??
