i was in chiangmai for 3 months late last year. trained at lanna and chai yai which are both excellent gyms. i prefer chay yai for their more attentive trainers.
2 weeks training is ample time to improve ur techniques and fitness but it wont get u a fight unless they think u are really good. that is if u intend to fight.
Lanna is a poor Gym, Siam No1 and Chai Yai better..some of there trainers were ex pinsinchai but I think Chai Yai had a problem with the manager owing or losing lots of money
to train properly go to Bangkok, get to see great fights and train hard
Go to the islands for a bit more touristy training. can still be good if you are dedicated and obviously depends on your size, ie if your big will be loads of farangs in Phuket to spar/clinch, but it is more relaxed
In Bangkok look at Jitti gym, excellent gym for foreigners where most of the UKs top guys go, also the same for Kiatphontip which is outside central bangkok, much cleaner and greener. Plus you have all the other big gyms like Kaewsamrit, Sasiprapa, SItSongPeenong, Keatkhamtom, Eminent Air etc etc etc...all miles better than places like Lanna....
On the islands depends where the good coaches are, Tiger whilst huge does have some good guys / trainers. Sinbi is good but super popluar as that is where Saenchai is these days so expect lots of tourist training...
when are you planning on going?
nov dec period i guess.
chiangmai would be a better place to train with its cooler temperature and cleaner air. cheaper overall too.
cool, anyone went and have good reviews of any places?
